This is the largest monolithic status in Hampi. You will see the form of Narsimha sitting on coiled 7 headed snake, Sesha, the 7 headed snake forming a hood over him. Quite often the statue is refered to as Ugra Narsimha, but the original statue had Laxmi the gods consort sitting on his lap. The statue was badly damaged sometime during the downfall of Vijayanagara empire and the status of Laxmi has been missing ever since. The only clue of its existence is, we can still a broken arm resting on Narsimhas left arm(visible on the right side in the pic). ![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgj5wO53gXBZlB0bT66YAM_vCBg-StP2Rq1e6I6S-ICu9mqpQXUUrjy1RuMqi2rxGgVS5KaehNo6pKU92-jEBf2zkpLX2MQL8kuMLhl8tyLuNAFreVtP8kpp_2u-s_cK3-0qGx6iJbKLA/s640/IMG_20160126_200316.jpg)

If you think it looks majestic now, please do keep in mind that the statue was damaged severly. What you see now is what has been assembled back in the recent past, you will see some shoddy cement work here and there if you look closer. Just imagine how beautiful this may have been before it was destroyed.
Just to give a sense of how huge the statue actually is, here is a pic to give you some point of reference.
